3 Guitarists You Never Want to Be Like

Are you a novice at guitar, intermediate or professional guitarist and looking for some inspiration (yes, even professionals need, or have an icon they look up to for inspiration). There have been and still exist a great number of great guitarists known to the world.
People like: Jimi Hendrix, Duan Allman, B. B. King, the list is endless. All you have to do is pick one (provided these are your kind of icons you want of course). Before you do that though; you need to know a little bit about them.
Jimi Hendrix, for example, dubbed as the greatest guitar player of all time by rollingstone magazine. If you were to look at a picture of him, you would be quick to point out the fact that he is just as human as you are. There is nothing that makes him any different from the rest of us (that should be some good news for the aspiring guitarist).
Despite being the best guitarist ever, he was a pretty much down to earth guy, sweet and shy. His general appearance would shock you to say the least. He was not the Brad Pitt of today; he was usually dusty and definitely not remarkable (don’t get me wrong, Jimi was an exceptional guitarist). The point that I am trying to put across is that he was as human as you and I.
Another human just like you and I was Duan Allman, of the “Allman brothers band. ” Even though he was a good slide player and had been playing the guitar for a long time; he didn’t know anything about slide until shortly after the start of the Allmans. He was human in the sense that he was not born a guitarist; it was something that he came to learn. If he could do it, so can you.
B. B. King, a man after my own heart, self –proclaimed “ambassador of the blues”; he was loved by the American music community. He was born in Mississippi and then moved to Memphis where he became a DJ. During the time he picked up his love of the blues and never stopped until he became the B. B. that we know today.
I can go on and on trying to show you that these great guitarists were/are human beings just like you and I. There is nothing special about them. What will help you to get to their level (if you put in the work and believe in yourself), is YOUR desire to learn and improve. The choice is in yours.

So, You Want to Learn to Play Guitar?

Maybe you are a Guitar Hero game player, but now you think you want to learn to play a real guitar? The guitar hero game is fun, but it doesn’t teach you to play the guitar. Maybe you’ve been thinking that to be able to play the guitar and perform for others would be something you’d like to do. Learning to play an instrument takes work – you don’t really get to “play” at it until you learn the basics and practice. Then, after you’ve learned to play some chords and you’ve learned a song or two, the fun starts. I know because I learned to play the guitar when I was ten years old! I learned to play some chords that you can use for many songs. That is a good way to start – you’ll feel that you accomplished something. For example, if you learn these chords: C, G. and D, there are many, many easy guitar songs that use them. Online videos teach you various things such as tuning the guitar and changing strings (and look up the parts of the guitar – it’s good to learn that). There are beginner lessons on videos that can teach about guitar chords. How hard is it to learn a song? When I learned to play guitar, I had a guitar teacher and used some guitar chord books. Now that was quite a while ago and today there are so many other options to get guitar lessons for beginners. I know that the online lessons are good. But this has not changed: a quick way to learn is to learn one song. After that, learning the second and third song will be much easier! What kind of guitar should you have? Lots of beginning guitar players start with an acoustic guitar and many start with what is considered a classical guitar. (See this article about guitars).   A basic difference between those two types of guitars is the kind of strings – acoustic guitars have steel strings and classical (or folk) guitars have nylon strings. Believe me, the nylon strings are much easier to start out with because they don’t hurt your fingers as much! Either kind of guitar is great to learn to play with. Some people start with electric guitar, especially if their goal is to play electric guitar in a rock band. For some kinds of music, an acoustic guitar is better, you’ll just have to decide what kind of music you want to play and get the guitar that is best for it. So, go get a guitar, but don’t get a really cheap one. Make sure you hear the guitar played first. If you have to get someone in the guitar store to play it, then do that. Or take a friend with you that knows about guitars. Then, start learning your first song. You will become your own guitar hero!

I Want to Record Live Music (Guitar, Vocals Etc) Using a Portable Digital Device. What Device Is Best to Use?

I used to use himd minidisc but it broke and would like to try digital. Its for recording my own acoustic music, not for recording live gigs if you know what i mean. I’ve seen their are lots of digital dictaphones but these are more for voice close up rather than the wide spectrum of sound from guitar, vocals, piano etc. Please can you recommend a portable digital recorder that will fit my requirements. Thankyou.
