Over the past several years, the market has been flooded with guitar software programs. While some of these programs are decent, many fall short with promises of teaching a person to play guitar. One of the most popular software programs is called Jamorama. According to the website, this particular program has guided many people to success of playing guitar.
While it certainly is affordably priced, many of my students wonder if Jamorama really lives up to its hype. This is why I decided to compile a summary of each Jamorama review I read, showing both positives and negatives.
Ben Edwards, a talented and reputable guitar teacher and guitarist who toured the international circuit, has taken his years of experience and powerful ability to create a program that would help teach people of all ages how to play guitar. In doing in-depth research through one Jamorama review after another, we found that as much as 97% of guitarists found learning to play was not quite as easy as they thought. The primary challenge has to do with the old way of learning, which is time-consuming and often boring.
In this Jamorama review article, we wanted to share some thoughts, both good and bad, coming directly from individuals who have purchased and tried the program.
Jamorama Review Pros:
Most reviews for this guitar software program were pretty good. The following are some of the most common “pro” responses seen:
* Complete Package – In our Jamorama review of the pros, we have found that people love the complete package. In other words, Jamorama comes with over 100 video lessons and systematic instruction on TAB, sight-reading, chord identification, and much more.
* Fun – With any type of learning, students need to have fun. As mentioned, many of the old methods for teaching guitar are boring, which means people lose interest. However, almost every Jamorama review showed that this software program has eliminated boredom and replaced it with fresh learning methods.
* Online Material – With Jamorama, you use the internet to learn to play guitar. This collection includes downloadable e-books, as well as video/audio files and games. This is said to be an easier way of learning, because you go at your own pace.
* Quick Learning – Every Jamorama review we read stated that learning to play guitar needs to not only be fun but also quick. However, these individuals also felt the advanced portion of the program did not offer enough or a high enough caliber of features. It seems that Jamorama is best suited for beginners, not intermediate players.
* Animation – In this case, we saw a few comments specific to the lack of animation for the fret board. In fact, one particular Jamorama review stated the animation for feedback on performance, repetition looping, and music tracking lacked pizzazz. This might not be very important for most people, but it seemed to be a common complaint.
As you can see, each Jamorama review we read was positive for the most part. Of course, there are always some negatives inherent to any product, and Jamorama is no exception.

Like for many who aspire to learn to play the guitar, my quest at proficiency has taken many twists and turns. I have considered taking formal classes at $30 an hour. While this method appears to be the best, it is expensive and requires a long commitment. In addition, due to my busy schedule I found it impossible to commit to a set schedule. I purchased the latest books, videos, and online software. By using each of these different delivery methods I learned a bit, and am able to play many basic tunes on the guitar. The purpose of this article is to share my thoughts on the benefits and drawbacks of each method mentioned above. These opinions are based on my experiences and frustrations in my journey to learn to play guitar. So lets get started!
My love affair with the guitar started about 12 to 15 years ago. I was listening to B. B King and was entranced by the sounds coming out of Lucille. I knew that I would love nothing more than to sit back at home and play those awesome songs all night! I thought it would be pretty cool to play some sick blues for a few of my friends at my very frequent (and often drunken!) parties. So I started to look for information on how to learn to play guitar. The Internet was not quite so replete with information as it is today (and I did not have a PC at my disposal) so I went to the bookstore and bought a few books. These books gave a pretty good basic history of the guitar and a cursory introduction into music theory. When it came to learning how to play, problems occurred from the start.
The first issue was tuning the guitar! The instructions were to use a piano for tuning. I did not have one and I suspect not many people do today. The tuning fork was a pain and I suspect that my first few months of learning were done with an out of tune guitar. The next issue was hand and finger position. Six lines, frets and black dots are a poor way to show you how to place your fingers. Even if you have no problem with this, the dynamic nature of playing guitar is difficult to illustrate on paper. The next issue was reading the music. It was presented in a cumbersome and very boring manner. How did I know that I was playing the notes right? The big issue with the book method for me was a lack of visual step-by-step instructions that showed me how the fingers worked in unison, and how the notes (and songs) were supposed to sound. In later years, books on how to learn to play guitar came with CDs. This was a tremendous improvement and help. Tuning was much easier, and I could listen to what the songs I was learning were supposed to sound like. But many of the problems remained. I feel that books are not the best delivery method for learning to play guitar.
Next came the videos. This media was leaps and bounds better than the books I had purchased. I could see and hear what the instructor was teaching. Tuning was even easier than before. Video close ups shed light on many of my previous questions on hand position and the dynamic nature of guitar playing. I was able to copy the instructor and actually play some cool tunes. I used the rewind function hundreds of times to reproduce something I had missed or was having troubles with. There were some very painful limitations to this method though. The first was boredom. You can only rewind the same tape to watch the same thing so many times. After that you lose interest. The next problem was that you really only learned to play whatever songs are on the 60 min tape. You were never (or at least not very well) given the tools to play other songs. This was quite limiting for me. The last issue was the actual camera angles of the videos. The shots were often too far or at wrong angles for you to see exactly what the instructor was doing. This was frustrating for me.
So we get to my favorite method: Online software! Today’s Internet gives us the ability to download full courses that allow you to learn to play guitar in the comfort of your home. Some of these courses are multimedia instructions that allow you to use technology to maximum effect. One such course is Jamorama. This course teaches the user TAB, and how to play songs by ear. It takes advantage of the thousands of TAB songs available for free on the Internet. The price is close to what you would pay for one hour of instruction, or what you would pay for 2 good books on learning to play guitar. This course overcomes the shortcoming of books and videos because it is dynamic. There are games that teach you to learn the tedious and boring tasks of reading and transcribing music. There are over 148 videos that show you step-by-step how to play songs. One of the more interesting things about Jamorama is that it also has 26 tracks that you play along with. In fact, you can turn off the guitar track and play along with drummer and bassist. This is a vast improvement over the other methods. The main benefit with this method, and with this course in particular is that it is more interactive!
So what are the downfalls? Because these methods are made to appeal to a large audience with many different musical style interests, there are a lot of songs that just don’t appeal to me. I personally have no interest in Nirvana, Van Halen or a multitude of Bands/singers that always appear on these types of courses. Much of the content is just not interesting and therefore some of the wealth of information that is offered is often wasted. I still believe that online software is the best way to go to learn to play guitar. The interactive benefits are excellent. This is also a very convenient way to learn!

When learning to play the guitar, it is always beneficial to look at various methods that enhance different aspects of your playing. Guitar software is one of those methods. Even if you are taking lessons from a private, professional instructor, it might be a good idea to also find other ways that will help you practice on your own and on your own time.
Various types of interactive and multi-media centered software for the guitar can be found online. Using Google, Yahoo!, or MSN, you’ll be able to find different packages, course, and lessons online. Software may or may not be a program that you download on your Mac or PC. It may or may not be interactive. And, it may or may not be in written form. In other words, guitar software encompasses any product that is purchased online that helps increase your overall guitar-playing skills in some method, besides the traditional, classic one.
A software package might contain an e-book, videos, audios, tablature, or other multimedia methods for learning. Some e-books are interactive and might even have you view a multimedia file within its pages. You’ll have to have some type of media player installed on your computer, such as Windows Media Player or Apple’s QuickTime, but the file might show you a live rendition of what is being taught. This will, in turn, allow you to play along with what is being showed.
Some website and software guitar packages focus on only one style of guitar playing, or they may provide links that lead you to other websites that display or enhance what is being discussed. If you want to learn jazz guitar or Latin guitar, you might find a website or bundled package that just focuses on these methods. It will be important that you find out if you need to have any previous knowledge or skill before considering a certain guitar-learning software. For instance, you might be better off learning how to simply play a regular acoustic guitar before you take the challenge of learning jazz, latin, or even rock or folk guitar. Learn the fundamentals and basics of the guitar, then you can experiment with another genre.
Finally, some software packages ordered online can be mailed to you as a hardcopy, and you might have to wait a few days or weeks for the package to be delivered to you. However, most of these packages are well worth the wait. Several interactive DVD packages are superbly done, but may take up too much room. Always check and read what others say about the product. Are you able to contact the people who left testimonials? Is there a money-back guarantee or free trial? Review and check out the various software options available for learning the guitar beforehand. Finding the right software package might take some searching, but will be worth all the effort in the end when you find one that will help you perfect your skills.

I can not help wondering how many variations on the basic chords of a guitar player needs. "Power Tab Editor is a software program for writing guitar tabs. The program includes a dictionary of chords that can be used to show the strains of music as standard or as tablature. This opens the chord dictionary shows chord diagrams. You can select and insert the string and you can see the notes and fingering in the form of tab. "Guitar Chords V 2. 2 "is a software unadorned guitar chords. It has a library of forty thousand basic and not so basic chords shown as guitar tab. Guitar Chords is the software you need if you do not have to look again chords and chords you want your sample in a readable format.
