This is the first easy reading and playing exercise I teach my guitar beginner students. It is a very simple, though very nice and helpful exercise. You will develop your fretting and plucking skills. And you will develop your musical taste and musical appreciation too. All my students love it. Every exercise or study has its own goals, requirements and particularities. So, what are the goals of this first one?To mention just a few, among many others:- To grow flexibility of both hands fingers. – To evolve independence between left and right hand fingers. – To create the ability to bring quality sound out of your guitar. – To improve your aptitudes for reading tablatures or music scores. – To expand your discerning ability for quality music playing. So we can understand each other, we’ll state some name conventions. At 9th bar, you will play together (at the same time), the 5th string open and the 3rd string pressed at the 2nd fret with your finger 2. Wwhen you press a string with a finger of your left hand, that finger should not touch another string, as then that string will not sound correctly if plucked. Remember to pluck strings with your right hand fingers and to press strings with your left hand fingers with the necessary strength to get a clean sound. Keep trying until you get:- A clean sound each time you pluck a string – A continuous playing, without delaying from one bar to he next Now, come on! Go try it!You’ll find out that it’s easy. If you are working on your scales, chords, arpeggios, chord progression or just about anything else GKN has the lessons and tools that will have you playing like a pro in no time. Along with the many lessons, tools and other learning resources GKN also has a great member base filled with knowledgable people looking to help you get better. I’m including a few links to some my favorite tools in GKN, just so you can see some of the highlights. Gutiar Tab Archive – Nice archive of over 20,000 or so guitar tabs.   While tab titles are viewable to all visitors, you have to be a member to download the files. Scales In Tab For Every Key – Need to find a scale fingering for Blues, Pentatonic, Major, Natural Minor, or Harmonic Minor Scales?  In any key?  With different Chord and Scale Fretboard Tool -  This tool shows the locations of every note in a given chord or scale over the length of your fretboard.   It is a great tool for finding different fingers for chords or scales Chord Progression Generator – This tool is great for song writers and composers. . .   It randomly generates chords progression in any key and there are hundreds of Major or Minor progressions that can be used.   (Lots of Fun!)

I started teaching myself guitar during the dawn of the internet, but unfortunately for me – lessons were few in those days. I did just fine, but now I look at all the guitar instruction that is available and know that I could have learned much faster. Learning guitar free online is so easy because you can go at your own pace, naturally you don’t have to pay anything, and you can make mistakes in the comfort of your own home without feeling embarassed. The only problem with going the completely free route is that there is a good chance that the information that you learn will have to be randomly pieced together with very little making sense.
