I used to use himd minidisc but it broke and would like to try digital. Its for recording my own acoustic music, not for recording live gigs if you know what i mean. I’ve seen their are lots of digital dictaphones but these are more for voice close up rather than the wide spectrum of sound from guitar, vocals, piano etc. Please can you recommend a portable digital recorder that will fit my requirements. Thankyou.

I have a Firepod by Presonus with recording software from Cubase. It’s like having a professional recording studio tied to your home computer.
If you care, I have a website at http://www.broadjam.com/bradschuman with examples of some recordings I’ve done with it….(hope this isn’t considered “spamming”).

hey, i do the same thing as you and i just use my iriver pmp, it records quite well for an mp3 player. it depends how much you want to spend because there is some really good stuff out there but it can be quite expensive. i suggest you just keep looking for another minidisc recorder as they are generally more affordable. hope this helps! good luck with your music :)
