Occasionally you can get beginners Guitar lessons on “On Demand TV” w/DVR .you click on the on demand site channel check out the different things they offer ,have seen free guitar lessons listed numerous time.

try ultimate-guitar.com and click on the lessons link and it will show you a number of techniques of how to play the guitar. also, download powertab editor (just type it in on google) and you can download tabs from ultimate guitar. Here is a list of songs you should start out learning(they are pretty easy).
1. Deep Purple- Smoke on the Water
2. Metallica- enter sandman
3. Metallica- Master of puppets
4. Ozzy Osbourne- Crazy train
5. pretty much any green day song
