First heard this song while my ship was pulling into Guantanomo Bay Cuba back in Feb 1988.
We were pulling mooring lines off the storage reels along with the song and they had to keep stopping because we were going too fast for the other BMs to keep up.

yep i met steve right when this album came out he hadnt become famous at that point and was playing some litle club? the bus broke down and they got a lift via a greyhound bus that was empty passing through. so because they were late they played beyond the curfew lol best show i think ive ever seen

I love this song!!! Just saw Steve Earle perform last night in Winnipeg…FANTASTIC!!! Love his newer stuff so much!!! He is sooo talented!! But…I have to admit that “Guitar Town” is still my favourite!!!!!

Oh Shit this song makes me wish long haul trucking was still fun .But after 12 years it has lost its appeal.
