It’s a composition I believe Ry Cooder wrote for the movie. It’s partly based on the 5th caprice by the 19th century violinist Paganini. It’s on a Vai cd as “Eugene’s Trickbag”.

Actually, he took some kind of “guitar acting” lessons that made it look like he really could play
December 15th, 2009 at 11:30 pm
Sounds like Macchio’s piece was to later become Satriani’s 45 version of Power Cosmic.

What is this movie actually about?
December 16th, 2009 at 3:42 am
Steve Vai played both sides of the guitar duel, while acting as Jack Butler, the devil’s guitarist. Ry Cooder recorded the slide parts and produced the soundtrack.

I meant TWO pieces of music…

Struck down by classical guitar!!!
Rock, Blues, Jazz….Nothing can stand up to lightning in a bottle.

The credits say exactly:
“EUGENE’S TRICK BAG”
Written and Performed by Steve Vai
Reprise of Turkish March Arranged by William Kanengiser
So we have to pieces of music in Eugene’s Trick Bag in my modest opinion.
